Review of Dark Highland Fire by Kendra Leigh Castle

Blurb:
Gabriel MacInnes has led a charmed life. A
Highland werewolf of Alpha lineage, he’d always thought that, as the second son, he would never have to worry much about responsibility. But with his Pack now squarely in the sights of an ancient and rediscovered enemy, everything has begun to change.

Exiled from the Drakkyn realm, on the run from the dragon prince who claims her as his own, the last thing Rowan an Morgaine wants is to deal with a bunch of overbearing shifters in the middle of nowhere. But when her hiding place on Earth is discovered, and with blood the only thing that can restore her waning power, the fiery demigoddess has little choice but to accept Gabriel as a protector …

As the Earthly and Drakkyn realms converge, Gabriel and Rowan must decide how much they’re willing to sacrifice for fate…and for one another.

When Rowan an Morgaine and her brother mysteriously arrive at his family’s home, Gabriel MacInnes wasn’t expecting to have the responsibility of keeping Rowan safe thrust upon him, but when her brother leaves that is exactly what happens.  Reluctant to take on the duty, but intrigued by and attracted to his new charge, Gabriel decides to take his responsibility seriously…that is if he can convince Rowan to stay.

Used to being in control, Rowan an Morgaine is a strong and fiery heroine who finds herself stranded with a group of werewolves she thought no longer existed.   Saddled with a protector she neither wants nor needs, Rowan is determined to fight her own battles against the dragon prince who is after her.  However, despite her desire to leave, she can’t help but be drawn to the charming Gabriel.

As they spend more time together, the two soon discover love and a connection when and with who they least expected and when their enemy threatens, they find themselves in the fight of their lives.

Dark Highland Fire is a romantic paranormal story that drew me in from the very first page.  The talented Ms. Castle has created strong and likeable characters and an intriguing paranormal world that I quickly fell in love with as I lost myself in the story.

Rowan and Gabriel were a perfect match for each with their stubborn and independent natures and I enjoyed the sparks and banter between the two.  Their chemistry was obvious from their first encounter and I couldn’t help but root for them as they battled both their growing feelings and their enemy.

Just like the first book in the series, Dark Highland Fire is definitely a keeper.  I can hardly wait for the next installment in the series.
