Couldn’t resist…

Okay, so you may have noticed the image in the sidebar about “Buy a Contemporary…Save the World”…well, I couldn’t resist posting it here on the blog because 1) I love contemporary romances and 2) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Erin McCarthy’s books…plus it is a pretty fun campaign and contest.

I learned about the campaign over at Dear Author and at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books where both sites reviewed a book I have been looking forward to…Flat-Out Sexy by Erin McCarthy.

I am doing my part by buying Contemporary romances.
What about you?  Do you like contemporary romances?
Have you noticed that straight contemporaries (with no paranormal elements) are getting harder to find?

Cursed with immortality, Marrok has searched for the key to unlocking the diary that will break the curse.  When he dreams of Olivia Gray, he believes she is Morganna, the witch who whose need for revenge made her cast the spell that has kept him prisoner for hundreds of years.  Believing she is Morganna, Marrok kidnaps Olivia demanding that she break the curse.  However, as they spend time together, Marrok learns of his mistake…Olivia is not Morganna.

Olivia has come to England to find her father.  She begins to have erotic dreams about a sexy warrior and is shocked when the warrior appears at her shop and kidnaps her demanding she end his curse by unlocking the diary.  While the diary may break Marrok’s curse, in the wrong hands the diary could destroy magickind.  Unable to break his curse, the two still work together to find answers.

Soon an evil wizard who has returned from exile is after the diary. Olivia and Marrok along with some other wizards must work together to keep the diary from falling into the wrong hands.

Touch of Darkness is a wonderful start to a new series about the Doomsday Brethern.  Filled with magic, intrigue, and romance the book held my attention and made me want to know more about the characters and what would happen.

I loved that the book involved magic, wizards, and witches.  Ms. Black has created a world of magic in the modern day world that is not only extraordinary, it was almost believable.

Olivia and Marrok made an intriguing couple considering his past and what we learn about hers.  Watching as they dealt with what life threw at them and discovered love was very touching.

In addition to the fascinating world and plot, Ms. Black has provided readers with many secondary characters worthy of stories of their own.  I am definitely looking forward to the other books in the series.

Touch of Darkness was a fabulous read that I highly recommend to those looking for a different kind of paranormal.
